9 Ways to Keep Your Dog Safe as You Run Your Pub Business

Do you enjoy running your own pub? If you do, then we know that one of the things that is very important to you is keeping your dog safe. Here at Jake’s Place, we want to share with our readers nine ways they can keep their dogs happy and healthy while running a successful pub business.

Keep him on a tight leash

As soon as your pup gets out of his cage, make sure he stays on a secure leash so he doesn’t wander off and get lost or run into traffic.

Give him fresh water

Make sure to always have fresh water for him in an outdoor bowl. It’s also best not to leave it unattended because curious dogs might knock it over or chew on it.

Keep him hydrated

Make sure he stays active during the day by taking him for a long walk before you open up your pub or around lunch time when there are less customers out and about.

Open at his regular hour

Try to keep your dog’s normal routine as much as possible, even when you’re working late.

Make him feel at home

When your dog is having a bad day, make sure to show extra affection and give them some special treats or play with their favorite toy for five minutes so they can relax and know that everything will be okay in the end.

Keep his surroundings clean

Dogs tend to play with their food before they eat it, so make sure to clean up the floor after every meal. If you have any garbage around your pub or in a nearby trash can, try putting it away for safekeeping because dogs love sniffing through things and might get into something he shouldn’t be eating.

Do not let them wander

If your dog is climbing on things or trying to get into a place he shouldn’t, put him back in his cage immediately.

Take good care of them

Dogs are very sensitive creatures and if they don’t feel safe or loved then their behavior will show it. Make sure you’re giving them enough attention throughout the day so that they know you care about them.

Don’t overfeed him

Make sure you’re not giving your dog too much food or else he might get sick and have a hard time digesting it, which could make him feel really bad the next day after work.
